Hertie School of Governance invites applications for the 2019 International Security Policy Scholarship.This scholarship is offered in cooperation with the Centre for International Security Policy (CISP).

Climate change, cyber-warfare, nuclear weapons, terrorism – the security challenges facing the international community in the 21st century are diverse and complex. The International Security Policy Scholarship is intended for students who are passionate about international security and wish to pursue a career in this field.

The Hertie School of Governance is a private university based in Berlin, Germany, accredited by the state and the German Science Council. It prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society. Interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, first-class research and an extensive international network set the Hertie School apart and position it as an ambassador of good governance, characterised by public debate and engagement. The Hertie School of Governance was formally founded as a private, non-profit institution in December 2003 by the Hertie Foundation, becoming the first professional school for public policy in Germany.

Eligibility

  • Available for the Master of International Affairs
  • Open to applicants of all nationalities
  • Up to two full scholarships are available, each worth 32,500 EUR
  • Decisions are made on a rolling basis

How to apply

Interested applicants should first submit a standard application for the MIA programme. In addition, they need to draft a brief letter of motivation highlighting their interest in international security. The letter should be sent to grad-admissions[at]hertie-school[dot]org after an application has been submitted.

Interested applicants should submit their applications and letters of motivation before 1 April 2019.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted on a rolling basis and interviewed by a faculty member of the Hertie School.
