Nuffic OKP Scholarships for Short Courses in Netherlands

Nuffic (The Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education) offers fellowships for training courses in The Netherlands. These fellowships seek to develop and strengthen the skills, instincts, and abilities of professionals to enable their organisations and communities to succeed in an ever-changing world. 

The Nuffic programme is initiated and (almost) fully funded by the budget for development cooperation at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Nuffic Fellowships (OKP, MSP, and StuNed) will cover the tuition fee, return flights from an international airport to Amsterdam, insurance, accommodation and a small Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA).

In order to qualify for a Nuffic Fellowship, you must first obtain academic admission at The Hague Academy. Once your application has been assessed and admitted, you will receive further instructions to complete fellowship application. Please read the details of the programme carefully to ensure you meet all eligibility and application requirements.

Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP)

The Orange Knowledge Programme offers scholarships for participants living and working in one of the following 51 countries. This programme aims to advance the capacity, knowledge, and quality of both individuals and institutions of higher and vocational education.

A wide range of governmental, private and local NGO’s are eligible. Examples include educational institutions, planning agencies, national ministries, community-based organization and private enterprises. The key priorities for the programme are Food Security, Water, Security and Rule of Law, and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. Cross-cutting themes relevant to all activities of the programme include Private Sector Development, Climate, and Gender and Inclusive Development (with specific attention to marginalised and discriminated groups).

Current OKP and MSP Scholarships

Please note:  The next opportunity to apply for Nuffic OKP and MSP scholarships will start on the 20^th August 2018. The application deadline is 18^th October 2018.

Applications for the following OKP and MSP Scholarships will start on the 20^th August 2018. The deadline for applications is the 18^th October 2018 at 24h00. The following training courses will be eligible:

• Inclusive Service Delivery & the SDGs (18 – 29 March 2019)
• Citizen Participation and Inclusive Governance (8 – 19 April 2019)
• Integrity and Anti-Corruption (17 – 28 June 2019)

How to apply for OKP or MSP Scholarships

The Hague Academy uses a two-step application procedure:

• Applicants must obtain an academic admission from THA via the step-by-step procedure explained on this page. The application will be assessed for eligibility and relevance.
• If you meet all the academic and eligibility criteria you will receive an invitation to proceed with the second step in the scholarship application procedure, registering for the scholarship in ATLAS (the Nuffic online application system)

Important information before starting your application:

• The deadline for applications is the 18^th October 2018 at 24h00. The application form will no longer be available after this deadline.
• Please read the Nuffic Obligations for OKP Fellowship Holders  before starting your application.
• Follow the step-by-step instructions, and pay careful attention to the Quality Guidelines provided.
• Prepare all your documents in advance. (You cannot complete your application without all necessary documents)
• Supporting documents must be uploaded in PDF format and must not exceed 2 MB. The following instructions can assist you: Converting documents to PDF
• Carefully check your application before you submit it. Once your application has been submitted, there will be no further opportunity to replace or revise the documents.
  Only applications with all the required documents in the correct formats will be considered.
• ONLY applicants who have been admitted to proceed into the next round will be notified. This decision is final and not subject to discussion and/or correspondence.

Step 1:  Check Eligibility

• In order to qualify for Nuffic scholarships, you must meet the eligibility criteria.
  Please check if you are eligible before you start the application process.
• If you are not eligible for Nuffic funding or if you would like to apply for a training course without the scholarship, then please follow refer to the separate deadlines and separate applications of each 2019 open subscription course.

Step 2:  Prepare your answers to the following Questions

You will have to answer the following three questions to support your application:

• Question 1: What is the issue or problem you wish to address in your country?
• Question 2. How will this training course enable you to address this issue?
• Question 3. How will you address this issue within your organisation?

Pay careful attention to the formulation of your answers. Be specific and base your answers on factual information. Refrain from copying the course information or learning needs from our website. The answers to these questions will be closely reviewed during the assessment of your application.

Step 3:  Prepare all Supporting Documents

Prepare a copy of your passport: Your passport must be valid for at least three months after 1^st November 2018. Individuals with passports that do not comply with this requirement will not be considered for the course. Prepare a PDF copy of your passport (not exceeding 2MB). 

Prepare your Employer Statement: All applicants must provide an Employer Statement according to the prescribed Nuffic format. Your Employer Statement consists of three parts:

• Declaration by your employer (Permission to participate)
• Motivation by your employer and your own motivation.
• Implementation plan (with clear goals and deadlines)

The Employer Statement must be uploaded as 1 single PDF document (not exceeding 2MB). This document will be assessed throughout the application review. If your employer statement is not complete, then your application will be discarded. See the Example of an Employer Statement (including guidelines regarding the quality of the statement).

Prepare a Government Statement (if applicable)

For certain countries, applicants must provide a government statement that meets the requirements stipulated. Check the Overview Government statements (for OKP) or check the Overview Government statements (for MSP) to determine if you need a government statement. If relevant, this document must be uploaded as a PDF (not exceeding 2MB).

If you need a Government statement, then use one of the following prescribed formats: OKP Statement of Government Authority or MSP Scholarship Statement of Government Authority.

Step 4:  Apply for Admission to The Hague Academy 

• ONLY use Nuffic scholarship application form found via the button at the end of this page.
• You can apply for only one Fellowship per deadline.
• It is possible to save your application to continue at a later time. You will receive a login code to re-access your application.
• Before submitting your application, do a final check. Once you have submitted your application, it will no longer be possible to make any adjustments.
• The deadline is the 18^th October 2018 at 24h00. Once the deadline has passed, the application form will no longer be available.

Step 5: Assessment and registration for Scholarship

• Your application will be assessed by The Hague Academy for Local Governance on eligibility, relevance, motivation and required documents.
• ONLY if you meet all the academic and eligibility requirements, you will receive an invitation from The Hague Academy to proceed with the final step in the application procedure.
• The invitation will include instructions to complete your Nuffic scholarship application in the Nuffic database (Atlas)
• Applicants that do not qualify to proceed will not receive any further notification.
