The National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC) invites talented Youth to a Visual Arts Competition (Cartoon, Drawing, Painting, Symbol/Logo, Graphic design,Poster,Creative art works, etc.) to promote the National Unity and Reconciliation among Rwandans.

The contest targets Secondary School Students (at 6 pilot program schools) and Young Artists (University Students and any Rwandans and Expatriates residing in Rwanda not exceeding 30 years old)

The Arts Contest gives all participants full rein to their imagination and creativity, and to incorporate one of the following key concepts into their work:

  • National Unity and Reconciliation among Rwandans
  • National identity
  • Beauty of Rwandan Nature (flora and Fauna and People)
  • Uniqueness of Rwandan Culture
  • Peace and prosperity of Rwanda.

Applications should be made by submission of A4 Paper format (210X 297mm) 150dpi JPEG images or in PDF Format, in color or in black/white on a white paper and the explanation of the idea on one page of A4 via on-line(unity@nurc.gov.rw) or mail to NURC by the end of November 2018.

The application procedure for the secondary school students will be explained in detail at the mobilization tour by the NURC team.

All submitting artworks should be the applicants’ own creation and presented on A2 paper format (420X594mm)for young artists at the presentation competition and A3 paper format(297X420mm) for the secondary school students at the school competition as well as at the national competition, which will be held in Kigali in January 2019.

A.Secondary students Group (6 schools as a pilot program):

School competition: 1st winner (Rwf20,000),2nd winner (Rwf15,000),3rd winner (Rwf 10,000),5 Special prizes (Rwf5,000)

National competition:1st winner (Rwf 100,000), 2nd winner (Rwf 75,000.),
3rd winner (Rwf50,000), 5 Special prizes (Rwf30,000)

B.Young artists group: 1st winner (Rwf 500,000), 2nd Winner (Rwf300,000),
3rd winner (Rwf200,000), 5 Special Prizes (Rwf 100,000)

The official announcement of the winners and awards will be made on the competition day.
The exhibitions of the winning entries will be arranged in March 2019
