ONLINE UN VOLUNTEER ROLES

The World Food Programme (WFP) in Egypt is looking for passionate and skilled online volunteers to help improve the English communication skills of its staff. This opportunity is perfect for experienced English language trainers who want to make a meaningful impact from anywhere in the world.

About WFP

The WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, dedicated to saving lives during emergencies and helping communities recover and thrive after crises. In Egypt, WFP works with local partners to support vulnerable communities, enhance food security, and promote sustainable livelihoods.

Why This Role Matters

WFP Egypt’s staff often work with international colleagues and stakeholders. Strong English skills help them communicate more effectively, collaborate confidently, and represent their work on a global stage. By volunteering, you’ll be directly contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger—because stronger communication leads to stronger impact.

What You’ll Do

As one of six selected volunteers, you will:

  • Assess the English level of your assigned group (beginner, intermediate, or upper-intermediate).

  • Create and deliver customized lessons focusing on speaking, listening, and writing in professional settings.

  • Conduct two interactive online classes per week (about 1 hour each).

  • Provide practical exercises, give feedback, and track learners’ progress.

  • Aim for at least a 30% improvement in language proficiency by the end of the 12-week program.

Who Can Apply

You should have:

  • Native or near-native English fluency.

  • At least 3 years’ experience teaching English as a second language, preferably to adults.

  • A TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent certification (preferred).

  • Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity.

  • Familiarity with online teaching tools such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Knowledge of Arabic is a plus, especially for beginners.

Time Commitment

  • 1–5 hours per week over 12 weeks.

  • This is a fully online volunteer role, so you can contribute from anywhere.

How to Apply

If you are ready to share your skills, connect with a diverse team, and help WFP Egypt make a bigger impact, apply through the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) platform. Remember—there are no fees to apply for any UN role.
