About UNICEF

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places to reach the most disadvantaged children—saving lives, defending rights, and helping them achieve their potential. Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day to build a better world for all.

UNICEF Mission in Education:
Education is critical to overcoming the twin crises of learning poverty and youth unemployment. The Education Outcomes Fund (EOF), established by the Education Commission (chaired by Gordon Brown) and the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (chaired by Sir Ronald Cohen), aims to improve education and employment outcomes for 10 million children and youth by supporting governments to use innovative finance instruments at scale, including results-based financing (RBF) mechanisms.

EOF focuses on underserved populations—including rural communities, girls, children with disabilities, and refugees—and prioritizes core skills (literacy, numeracy) alongside 21st Century skills such as socio-emotional and ICT skills. EOF’s approach ensures that funding is linked to measurable results, promoting efficiency and impact in education and employment outcomes.

Description of Assignment

The intern will support EOF in the following areas:

1. Data Management

  • Lead onboarding and structuring of datasets in the Azure platform.

  • Centralize data for improved decision-making and operational efficiency.

  • Maintain feedback loops with the EOF team for dataset refinement.

  • Manage permissions and ensure secure, consistent access.

  • Track workflows and document processes using Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).

2. AI-Driven Data Analytics

  • Clean and analyze data using Python; support AI/ML model deployment in Azure and Databricks.

  • Develop AI tools (e.g., chatbots) to streamline program analysis.

  • Generate projections on program impact and ROI using EOF, UNICEF, and published datasets.

  • Provide actionable insights for resource optimization and decision-making.

3. Data Visualization

  • Develop dashboards and visualizations in collaboration with EOF and external partners.

  • Monitor platform usage via Power BI.

  • Facilitate academic and external collaborations through a modeling and dataset request portal.

Note: This internship offers high responsibility, exposure to development finance innovation, and AI utilization in international development.
