Are you a farmer advisor, representative of a farmers’ cooperative or association, landscape manager or a similar professional passionate about sustainable agriculture? Climate KIC invites you to become a local ambassador in the Green Horizons Farmer Network, helping farmers adopt sustainable, climate-resilient practices by delivering engaging and impactful workshops.
About the initiative
The Green Horizons Farmers’ Network is a pan-European initiative led by Climate KIC, dedicated to supporting farmers in transitioning toward sustainable, climate-smart, and resilient agriculture. By combining in-person and online activities, the network fosters knowledge exchange, co-creation of transition pathways, and access to innovative solutions and funding opportunities.
The network offers three levels of engagement:
- ‘Plant’: Open to farmers, students, and members of the broader farming community across Europe, this level provides EU-wide access to the knowledge hub and toolbox. It includes training modules, webinars, and a digital AI-powered search engine.
- ‘Grow’: Designed for local ambassadors, this level provides structured remote support to help them empower farmers on their journey to sustainable farming. Ambassadors receive tailored methodologies, tools, and facilitation support from Climate KIC. This level is currently open to members in: Eastern Netherlands, Ireland, Slovenia, Emilia Romagna, Sardinia, Portugal, Denmark, Bulgaria.
- ‘Harvest’: Focused on place-based support, this level offers tailored, hands-on capacity building through in-person workshops and remote supporting materials like webinars, reports and policy summaries. It is currently available in selected regions in Greece, Spain, and Poland.
The three levels interact in the way that elements and resources from higher engagement levels are also available at the levels below. Thus, tools and materials from Plant are accessible to Grow and Harvest members; and resources from Grow are also available to those in Harvest.
Ambassador role and responsibilities
As a local ambassador within the Grow level of engagement, you will guide farmers on their journey toward sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture. You will play a vital role in empowering farmers by sharing practical tools, methods and expertise that support their transition.

- Organise and deliver two workshops for local farmers and stakeholders: Workshop 1 – Identify knowledge needs and co-create a roadmap for sustainable transition and Workshop 2 – Offer targeted content based on the outcomes from the first workshop, including business planning and funding strategies.
- Ensure the workshops are locally relevant, to keep participants engaged, motivated and committed to the process.
- Take the lead in managing your team, setting up the event, securing partners, sponsors, venues and designing an inspiring program.
- Promote the workshops widely across local networks and communities to attract strong participation.
- Support farmers in navigating and using the knowledge hub.
- Foster long-term engagement in the Green Horizons Farmers’ Network and encourage continued collaboration.
- Share your achievements with us, enabling a comprehensive overview of the collective impact of ambassadors across Europe.
