Job Title: Senior Project Officer/Curriculum Development Specialist

Job Summary:

The Improving Early Childhood Development in Rwanda (IECD-R) programs responds to the challenge of limited access to integrated Early Childhood Development (ECD) services in Rwanda and focuses on the conception to three-year-olds (0 – 3) age group. It seeks to build the knowledge and skills of parents and caregivers, enabling better stimulation, learning, protection, nutrition, and health and as a result better physical, social, cognitive and emotional development for approximately 730,000 children. You will provide technical expertise in the area of Curriculum Development in line with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) program quality principles and standards, donor guidelines, and industry best practice to advance the delivery of high-quality training to program staff and beneficiaries. Working closely with technical experts your skills and knowledge will contribute to determining how effective, adaptive and innovative CRS’ content will be delivered.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze curriculum development and content delivery to support CP teams in achieving technical excellence in delivering ECD content throughout Rwanda.
  • Support the development of program/project documents and tools, including technical manuals or guidance, training materials, job tools, and quality improvement and assessment guidelines.
  • Collect and disseminate Curriculum-development related information and resources to CRS staff and partners and assist with organization, design, and coordination of training workshops to support capacity building efforts.

Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Master’s in Education, Adult Education, Early Childhood Development, or a related field
  • Minimum of two to three years of relevant work experience with an international NGO, with at least one year of curriculum development/design and training delivery.
  • Additional experience may substitute for some education.
  • General knowledge of technical principles and concepts in Adult education.
  • Knowledge of program design requirements and regulations of major donors.
  • Knowledge of latest technological tools that have the potential to be applied in curriculum development.
  • Strong English writing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, knowledge-sharing networks.

 Required/Desired Foreign Language Full working proficiency in English and Kinyarwanda required.

Travel Required A minimum of 25% of field-based travel is required for this position.

Supervisory: None

Internal: Programme Director; Early Learning and Stimulation ECD Specialist; Health, Nutrition and Hygiene ECD Specialist; Child Protection and Inclusion ECD Specialist; Regional and HQ based technical advisors.

External: Government of Rwanda, NECDP, UNICEF, NGOs, and other stakeholders
