 Summary of Role

IntraHealth is seeking 25 Temporary Data Collectors for the USAID Ingobyi Activity in Rwanda.

The Temporary Data Collectors, reporting to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Director, will be responsible for collecting data from study participants, including getting informed consent, filling in the survey questionnaires conducting in-depth interviews for the selected participants and service providers. The Data Collectors will be responsible for entering questionnaires into the respective databases and also take photos as per the study requirements and will be required to write a brief report for their respective study sites. The

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Recruitment of study participants;
  • Provide information to, and take consent from, potential study participants;
  • Collect data using both qualitative and quantitative tools/methods, including taking photographs;
  • Track research participants, and perform any necessary follow-up tasks;
  • Check the quality of transcripts and translations;
  • Contribute to the interpretation of data and analysis;
  • Ensure the study is carried out ethically and according to applicable laws and regulations;
  • Perform other activities as needed and indicated by the Research Coordinator or other study investigators;

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, statistics, population studies, public health or related field;
  • At least a minimum of one (1) year working experience in monitoring and evaluation of data collection preferably on health projects (reproductive, maternal, newborn, child health, and malaria);
  • Demonstrable thoroughness and care for high-quality work;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda;
  • Computer literacy and ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to work independently and to take initiative;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a highly professional attitude;

 Desirable

  • Good understanding of research methodologies, including data collection;
  • Experience in conducting data collection using qualitative and quantitative approaches;
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork;
  • Familiarity with working in both rural and urban areas with a focus on participatory processes;
  • Willingness to spend 90% of the time in the study areas and interact with different stakeholders;
  • Problem-solving ability;
  • Results-oriented and able to deliver on time;
  • Ability to work flexibly and good time management;

 Other Requirements

  • Ability to work on irregular schedule on some occasions and travel on short notice
  • Self-starter, competent and requires minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet competing deadlines;
