CALL FOR SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR PROFESSIONAL DUAL TRAINING IN THE MICROFINANCE SECTOR

Background

RICEM (Rwanda Institute for Cooperative, Entrepreneurship, and Microfinance) was launched in June 2014 as a Vocational Technical Institute for the three pillars, namely Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship, and Microfinance. In partnership with AMIR (Association of Microfinance Institutions in Rwanda), RDB (Rwanda Development Board), and DSIK (German Sparkassenstiftung Eastern Africa), RICEM has been implementing the Dual Apprenticeship program in the Microfinance Sector since 2017. As a result of the program’s success in the pilot phases and national rollout, RICEM formed a partnership with CHANCEN International to ensure that the program reaches more people and contributes to the professionalism and growth of Rwanda’s microfinance sector at large.

Program description

The Dual Apprenticeship System is a 12-month capacity development intervention, specifically targeting young adults. The training is built around a competency-based approach to teaching and learning, which includes the development of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behavior. The Dual Training method places a strong emphasis on practical knowledge and skill application, which is reflected in the learning environment’s rotational design, with 20% theory-based learning at the training academy and 80% practical workplace learning (MFIs/SACCOs).
