Key Accountabilities
  • Oversee the development and use of data systems. S/he will discover efficient ways to organize, store and analyze data with attention to security and confidentiality.
  • Fully grasp the complexity of data management. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of databases and data analysis procedures. Should be tech-savvy and possess excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Provides leadership in advanced engineering, data science and analytics in the development of current or future products, technologies or services.
  • Manages overall data architecture and manages, develops, prioritizes and recommends initiatives to improve and build upon the data architecture to support the business.
  • Lead a team of data scientists to design, prototype, implement and test predictive and prescriptive analytic models. Implements data and analytics solutions, through data science techniques, that solve business problems and create business value.
  • Ensures consistency of process and usage, and champions best practices in data management. Oversees data accuracy processes, goals and assessment.
  • Ensures resolution of data conflicts between systems and within systems’ data universe.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to develop strategies for leveraging data to gain a deeper insight into business, impact on other systems.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and explore opportunities for the application of machine learning and apply artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to solve complex questions or fuel new business opportunities.
  • Uses best practices to understand the data and develop statistical, analytical techniques to build models that address business needs.
  • Build and/or utilize toolsets and set up processes for extracting information from unstructured data streams.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentoring to business insight and visualization teams, as needed.
  • Leads and executes independent quantitative research projects, leveraging data from multiple sources.
  • Responsible for user experience with data and reporting tools.
  • Ensures rigorous adherence to bank policies regarding protection and data security. Oversees data expiry practices and establishes and implements processes for data archival and expiry.
  • Manages and develops the staffing of the Data & Reporting unit; champions team collaboration; monitors and advise HR on career paths within the unit.
  • Provide mentorship and lead data science staff and provide analytical thought leadership and bring cutting edge statistical knowledge to solve complex business problems.
  • Build and manage relationships internally and externally with key stakeholders to ensure a “one team/best outcome” focus.

Experience
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Data management.
  • Must have hands-on experience with development solutions – Data modelling, Data Integration, Data validation, Match and Merge rules and Data stewardship
  • Financial Services domain experience required.
  • Proficiency with ETL tools (Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Preferred)
  • Experience with Cloud Database technologies is desired – Azure/AWS – Data Lake architecture/implementation experience
Qualifications
  • Bachelor/MS/PHD degree preferred in statistics, applied mathematics, or computer science (machine learning)

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; strong ability to be an active listener; ability to present complex, technical ideas in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences
  • Collaborative team player with a strong work ethic that works effectively in cross functional team environment
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Skilled proficiency in preparation of reports, presentations, summaries and analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Business Objects 4.0 is preferred.
