Job Purpose:

Maintain the portfolio quality of the Bank through the sanctioning of quality deals and effective portfolio management and keeping the Non -Performing Assets Ratio (NPA) in check.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure adequate turnaround time on credit applications
  • Oversee and provide active management of the Bank’s credit analysis function
  • Carry out an effective Portfolio Management through timely and accurate reporting
  • Ensure Risk Management principles and practices are observed in the credit function
  • Ensure full adherence to Credit Policy and procedures, BNR prudential guidelines and other external regulation.
  • Assist in carrying out updates/reviews of credit policy, product profiles and credit procedures on need basis.
  • Initiate, develop, and implement appropriate lending policies and procedures.
  • Ensure close follow-up of the management of watch accounts through assessing business units proactively manage the accounts by detecting signs of weakness.Assist in ensuring effective credit management by devising efficient and proactive management.
  • Contribute to portfolio management strategies by providing input at various credit meetings, including: Credit Risk Management Committee, and others as determined by Head of Credit.
  • Co-manage with Departmental Risk Champion the operational risk management processes within the department.
  • Embed performance development with every member of the credit team; carry out training, mentoring and coaching.
  • Participate with Head of Credit in the department risk management processes and controls.
  • Support the Head of credit in achieving the overall departmental objectives and managing departmental staff.

To qualify for this role applicants must have the following:

  • Graduate in either Business, Finance , Accounting or equivalent
  • Must have training in Credit Analysis and Lending Skills
  • Must have at least 4 years’ experience in Credit as a Credit Manager or similar role
  • Must have experience with banking and lending regulations and practices
  • Must have a strategic business perspective
  • Must have excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent report writing skills, and effective negotiation skills
  • Sound knowledge of analyzing and evaluating financial information
  • Having a Professional qualification in Credit Appraisal and Credit Management will be an added advantage
