Job title: Development/Planning Engineer

Reporting to: Senior Manager Engineering and Planning

Job purpose:

To ensure that aircraft are compliant with all required airworthiness regulations and at an acceptable level of reliability, are maintained to support company operational requirements. To administer and evaluate technical data, investigate repetitive defects and fault finding defects (Systems/Reliability/Avionics/Structure/Interiors/Power Plant).

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Development, Control and management of AMPs and their revisions;
  • Control of work package and task cards for each Aircraft maintenance check plus the materials and tools required for each check;
  • Timely Preparation and application for the issue or renewal of aircraft Licenses and Certificates and monitoring their validity;
  • Planning for embodiment of SBs, ADs, Modifications and Regulatory requirements;
  • Forecasting and tracking required maintenance activities using hours/cycles and calendar time for each aircraft, Engines, APUs and Landing gears based on periodic and planned utilization;
  • Optimization of maintenance program to improve the aircraft reliability and reduce cost;
  • Monitor Regulatory requirements and all mandatory and non-mandatory inspections and ensure timely compliance with the same;
  • To ensure accuracy and completeness of returned work packs against issuance record for proper certification;
  • To review and follow on all weekly/monthly technical and airworthiness reports from contracted AMCAOs, aircraft and equipment manufacturers;
  • Ensuring timely evaluation of mandatory Regulatory and airworthiness requirements, inspections and modifications and establishment of status files and required work scopes;
  • Follow up of technical incidents with a view of providing solutions and ensuring that repeats are avoided;
  • Raising purchase requests for Service Bulletin Kits and materials for peculiar maintenance requirements;
  • Establishment of Aircraft Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL) and revisions thereof;
  • Acquisition, evaluation and distribution of data for special maintenance requirements from relevant sources;
  • Analysis of inspection reports / findings and other reliability data, pertinent to the Reliability Program, including (but not limited to) delays and cancellations, PIREPS, manufacturer’s data, premature/unscheduled removals and failure characteristics;
  • Compare operational performance with established and recommended performance standards;
  • Present collected data in an acceptable manner for the presentation of warranty claims.
  • Liaise with the manufacturers and vendors on technical issues;
  • Ensure proper analysis of inspection findings with the view of optimizing AMP for safe and cost effective operations.
  • Responsible for the implementation of safety management systems processes in his/her area of work.
  • Any other work he/she may be assigned to by the manager

Qualification, Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Graduate Engineer in Aeronautical Engineering;
  • Have good understanding of aircraft maintenance planning and/or engineering development plus aviation basic;
  • Thorough understanding of Airworthiness Legislation and its application to Engineering Development and Maintenance Planning;
  • Ability to convert ideas into reality based on sound technical and economic judgment;
  • Computer knowledge with skills and experience in computerized maintenance programs and software;
  • Be able to work under pressure;
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
