Forensic summer school 2019The University of Rwanda/UR, College of Medicine and Health Sciences/School of Medicine and Pharmacy in collaboration with the Institute of Legal Medicine, University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (Universitatsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf, UKE) is organizing the 8th Interdisciplinary Forensic Summer School under the theme “Forensic science: fostering evidence-based practice in the East African region- A South-South/ South-North partnership between Rwanda, Uganda and Germany”.

When  : The Summer School is due to take place at the Nobleza Hotel/Kicukiro District from July 1 st — 5th , 2019.

Curriculum: will consist of both theoretical and practical workshop sessions on different aspects of medico-legal casework including forensic DNA analysis, toxicology, autopsy, post-mortem imaging, tissue/organ transplantation, forensic physical evidence, forensic anthropology, trauma & PTSD, as well as GBV& Domestic violence. Lectures will be delivered by experts from the Institute of Legal Medicine, UKE-Hamburg and the University of Rwanda.

Participants: intended for medical doctors, medical students, postgraduate students, laboratory

scientists/ technicians, biologists, clinical psychologists, pharmacists and forensic scientists. 60 candidates will be retained for this year’s summer school. Requirements for Applicants:

– Should be a medical doctor, medical student, postgraduate student, biologist, clinical psychologist, pharmacist, forensic scientist, lab technician/scientist with at least AO level degree in a public hospital setting.

– Candidates in the field of forensic science will be encouraged to apply.

Required documents:

– Application letter addressed to the Dean of the School of Medicine-CMHS/UR clearly indicating preferred workshop.

– Full CV and reference letter from the workplace for those in employment.

Deadline: by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 30th, 2019.
