The Successful Candidate:

Jibu is looking for an experienced professional with demonstrated ability to provide leadership, training and engineering support in a fast-paced, growing business in a developing market.

Successful candidate will:

● Have strong project management experience to implement processes, tools and innovations across all markets in various countries

● Have strong leadership and communication skills and be capable of effectively
training, inspiring, growing and advising a team of engineers and local technicians

● Obsess over product quality

● Be proactive in identifying and eliminating problems.

● Be a self-starter who thinks critically and problem-solves quickly

● Be proactive, researching and learning whatever is needed to tackle new challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Lead Quality Assurance

• Develop and improve quality management system, including quality audits, laboratory testing, quality enforcement, non-conformity response, and root cause analysis.
• Develop, improve, monitor, and enforce standard operating procedures.
• Advise on functional KPIs for production and quality staff.
• Compile comprehensive reports about product quality across all markets to Country Directors and Executives.

2. Lead Equipment Asset Management

• Maintain >99% equipment uptime
• Track and analyze equipment service records
• Eliminate inefficiencies and wasted resources
•  Identify and clearly communicate opportunities for cost reduction relating to
  component selection, retrofits, and machine design.
• Manage equipment assets inventory for machines, spare parts and tools
• Advise on design decisions, technical specification, quality requirements, and
  warranty issues with key suppliers

3. Lead Occupational Health and Safety

o Develop, monitor, and enforce standards around OHS for Jibuco technicians
and franchise equipment operators.

4. Coordinate effectively with country directors in Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya to make sound business decisions.

o Communicate technical issues clearly with a non-technical audience
o Collaborate and compromise to solve problems.
o Contribute to hiring process for technical staff by advising on job descriptions
and conducting interviews.
o Develop a strategy around certification of production points to ensure full
compliance with country specific regulations.

5. Develop implementation plans to effectively and systematically implement hardware and/or process changes at 100+ production sites in 6+ countries.

o Coordinate effectively with Training, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance,
Franchise Support functions.
6. Lead technical decisions in Expansion Planning
o Coordinate the raw water sample testing and taste testing for new markets
and advise and lead the equipment selection for new markets and in-market
expansion
o Facilitate the development of a Water Safety Plan for new Markets to comply
with regulatory and Jibu standards

7. Contribute to site selection for new production facilities

8. Champion capacity building for engineers and technicians at Jibu and for equipment
operators at Jibu franchises.

o Develop training resources
o Conduct effective trainings
o Develop troubleshooting guides and manuals for on-site repair and replacement activities

9. Operations Excellence

o Develop Standard Operating Procedures for all layers:
▪ JibuCo Technical Team
▪ Franchises
o Review and improve the design of production design and process to improve
on product quality
o Introduce 5S and OE measures to achieve consistently save procedures at all
production sites.

10. Contribute to New Product Development

o Advise on technical specification and quality requirements for products,
production equipment, and processes.

11. Travel throughout Africa: 20-40%

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or similar degree. (required)

● At least 2 years (required) or 5 years (preferred) of management-level experience and
certifications in some or all of the following disciplines:

o Quality management systems
o Equipment asset management
o Occupational health and safety
o Production management

● Proven track record of self-directed growth into new skills without formal training.
(required)

● Experienced in managing regulators and complying to their standards (preferred).

● Cultural knowledge and experience working in an emerging market context. (required)

● A team player with a sense of adventure wanting to make a difference. (required)

● Near perfect English language skills (required), additional local languages (preferred)
