Background

AOS LTD is a Service Provider that was established from the Joint Venture between the Government of Rwanda and Korea Telecom and is incorporated under the laws and regulations of the Republic of Rwanda. The company is engaged in the business of providing advanced Information and Communication Technology (“ICT”) services based on a state-of-the-art Data Center, System development and Integrations, e-Gov projects implementation and Consulting among others.

In order to effectively accomplish its business objectives and to support the growing of its ICT portfolio business, the company is now looking for qualified candidates who have necessary skills and knowledge in information security area. This position may include overtime, sometimes working during weekends and holidays if needed.

Position

Information Security Operations Engineer (2)

Roles and Responsibilities

The information security operations engineer will be responsible for implementation, operation, maintenance & support, troubleshooting, and consulting of information security related services and systems on AOS IDC Cloud Computing, colocation, and other relevant services.

His/her duties also include collaboration with different subcontractors and partners providing key solutions for Cloud Computing service: Security as a Service (SaaS)

The Operations engineer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Understanding and good experience in performing security monitoring and managing firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), and SIEM (Security Information Event Management).
  • Performs vulnerability assessment and penetration testing for applications, systems, networks, and databases, collects requirements and provides compliance reporting of the security results to customers.
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation such as: testing and consulting reports, lessons learned, and etc. for any assigned task
  • Provides update on progress reports and notifies any impending changes; escalates issues that cannot be solved at the ground level to his/her line manager
  • Performs routine maintenance to supplied information security systems or solutions as well as emergency support when required
  • Works with foreign companies and Rwanda government institutions and provide support to solutions or services implemented by AOS
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following skill sets:

  • Analysis and troubleshooting ability in systems, web application vulnerability, network, database testing, SIEM systems, and cloud computing
  • Analysis ability in packets and protocols through Wireshark and other tools
  • Troubleshooting ability in Information Security matters by finding and reporting the root causes.
  • In-depth understanding of information technology and IP networking
  • Strong communication skills and reporting abilities in English (both written and oral)
  • A person of proven integrity, highly motivated, innovative and a team player

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in any majors related to information security or information technology
  • Experience or trainings in vulnerability assessment and penetration testing for information security is preferred
  • Experience as Certified Ethical Hacking will be an asset.
  • Preferred: Work, trainings, experiences in Top 20 ICT developed countries in the website: http://www.itu.int/net4/itu-d/idi/2017/index.html

Certifications

  • Certificates or trainings for vulnerabilities in web applications, port scanning, packet and protocol analysis by using appropriate tools such as Nmap, OpenVas, Metasploit Framework, SIEM, etc.
  • Certificates or trainings for Information Communication Technology system and Security equipment (Firewall/Web Firewall/DDoS prevention equipment)
  • Certificates as Cyber Security professional would be considerable as an advantage

Employment

This is a fulltime position, and subject to the annual performance evaluation of the staff. AOS offers a comprehensive benefit package, which includes an attractive medical insurance among others. However, a probation period may be assigned before signing a work contract in accordance with AOS HR policy.
