The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scholarship Programme is a cooperation and mobility programme in the area of higher education. It promotes cooperation between higher education institutions and supports mobility in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific regions. The Programme aims to increase access to quality education that will encourage and enable students to undertake postgraduate studies, and to promote student retention in the region along with mobility of staff (academic and administrative), while increasing the competitiveness and attractiveness of the institutions themselves. Under this framework, HEED-Africa is one of the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Programme projects funded by the European Commission.

HEED-Africa Project

Harmonization of Entrepreneurship Education Delivery in Africa (HEED-Africa) project is made up of a consortium of partner universities from Africa and Europe. The consortium comprises of Addis Ababa University, Coordinating Institution (Ethiopia), the University of Ghana (Ghana), Milpark Education (South Africa), Makerere University (Uganda), Kyambogo University (Uganda) and the University of Wolverhampton (United Kingdom). HEED-Africa strives to foster the development of student and staff academic exchange through systematic academic mobility flows framework in a joint study, researches, academic activities, and mobility agreements across five regional higher education institutions.

The main objective of HEED-Africa is to develop and implement harmonized knowledge ecosystems in entrepreneurship through embedding entrepreneurship education in the thematic fields of business, administration, and law, through this enhance individual capacities and institutional capabilities for entrepreneurship education delivery in sub-Saharan Africa. It also aims to create the learning conditions to increase the ability of graduates to become job creators rather than job seekers. The expected outputs of HEED-Africa include training of 117 master’s students, doctorate students, academic and administrative staff.

Specifically, HEED-Africa project will:

Promote increased adoption of entrepreneurship education in higher education sub-sector.

  • Stimulate socio-economic mobility through harmonised entrepreneurship education to mobilise the entrepreneurial potential of graduate.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the quality of higher education, through the promotion of internationalisation and harmonisation of entrepreneurship programmes.
  • Reinforce the roles of African higher education institutions in general as catalysts for socioeconomic development.
  • Increase access to quality higher education by enabling students, academics, and staffs to benefit culturally and professionally.

Application
The HEED-Africa Master’s Students Academic Mobility Scholarship application will remain open from April 29, 2019 to June 15, 2019. The final application deadline is June 15, 2019 and will be closed at 14.00 GMT.

Applicants will be notified about the application selection decisions within four weeks after the application deadline. Selected master’s students will also receive a letter of scholarship offer award accompanied by the first steps to take immediately following the reception of this letter and to start the mobility.
