The Albertine Rift Conservation Society (ARCOS Network) was founded in 1995 with the mission To enhance biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of natural resources through the promotion of collaborative conservation action for nature and people”. ARCOS is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee in the UK and has offices in Kampala (Uganda), and Kigali (Rwanda). In collaboration with Rwanda Water and Forestry Authority, ARCOS is starting the implementation of a major 20-years project on “Building Resilience to Climate Change and Sustainable Livelihoods in Rwanda’s Agro-systems (Agroforestry & Livelihoods Project)”, with support from the Livelihoods FundThe project will be initially implemented in 4 landscapes of Rulindo District (Cyohoha, Muyanza and Yanze Landscapes) and Bugesera District (Musenyi-Ntarama Landscape). ARCOS is also starting a project on “Eco-Schools Programme in Rwanda” in collaboration with REMA, UNESCO and Danish Outdoor Council. It is in this framework that ARCOS is advertising for the following positions:


Deputy Executive Director

Key responsibilities

Work in close collaboration with the Executive Director in the strategic management and leadership of the organisation, and especially provide overall project coordination and management of the “Agroforestry & Livelihoods Project”

Profile

Master’s degree or PhD in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Conservation and Development or related field; At least 5 years’ experience at a senior managerial level and especially in leading, developing, and managing programmes and/or large-scale projects; committed to NGO development and non-profit work, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


Head of Finance and Project Administrator

Key responsibilities

Lead the overall financial management of the organization at international accounting standards, Oversee the preparation of regular financial reporting and especially the “ARCOS-Livelihoods Project”;

Profile

At least MSc degree and MBA in Finance and Accounting, ideally with a minimum of CPA 2 qualification or its equivalent; CPA/ACCA final level would be an advantage; At least 5 years at a senior management level, with significant operational and management experience in the key areas of the role.


2 Landscape Managers for Cyohoha and Muyanza Landscapes (Rulindo District) and Yanze (Rulindo) and Ntarama-Musenyi (Bugesera) Landscapes

Key responsibilities

Assist the Landscape Coordinator in providing leadership, coordination, management and relationship building for the landscapes.

Profile

MSc degree in Conservation, Natural Resource Management or Environmental Planning, agroforestry or forestry; 3 years’ experience in the field of environment and/ or development, and especially in managing projects; Experience of working with different stakeholders.


15 Cell Community Extension Officers (Cyohoha, Muyanza, Yanze and Ntarama-Musenyi Landscapes)

Key responsibilities

Coordinate, provide advice and support farmers, community groups and tree nursery managers on tree planting and other project activities; Document and report on project progress.

Profile

BSc degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Ecology, Natural Resource Management; Experience in community development and tree nursery management and interpersonal skills.


Eco-Schools Programme Coordinator

Key responsibilities

Provide overall coordination, management and development of ARCOS’ Eco-School Programme in Rwanda; Work with ARCOS and stakeholders to implement agreed priorities for improved quality education and environmental sustainability outcomes.

Profile

At least a MSc degree in the field of Education, environmental education or related field; At least five years’ experience working in education sector; Familiar with Education for Sustainable Development
