Manager, Strategy And Business Analyst

The Position

Reporting to Head of Finance, the job holder will play a key role in coordinating the processes of business planning, budgeting, and monitoring ongoing business performance including forecasting and reviewing. The role is responsible for the identification, analysis and reporting on financial information to assess current and future performance of the business. This is a central role that will have interactions with most business units and key to identifying areas of growth maximization within the business

Main Position Responsibilities;

  • Development of the annual business plan for approval by Senior Management and the Board of Directors within the given time frame.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the plans, pointing out material negative deviations and recommending prompt corrective actions.
  • Monitoring and proactively analyzing, on an ongoing basis, internal and external factors affecting business plans and advice management on timely corrective measures.
  • Provide professional input into the Bank wide annual business planning and budgeting process through distilling the Bank’s strategic goals into annual activity plans and advising senior management on the most efficient allocation of the tasks for respective departments and units.
  • Assist to communicate the Bank’s long term and annual business plan as approved by the Board of Directors to all staff and put in place monitoring and reporting mechanisms for the benefit of senior management and staff members.
  • Investigate and prepare proposals for pricing and reimbursement strategies for current and future products across all relevant customer and market segments.
  • Perform analysis and interpretation of trends requiring management’s attention including industry relevant operational, profitability, contract and industry performance and presentation of findings and specific recommendations to business unit management.
  • Financial research and analysis related to the budget/strategic planning.
  • Supervise all aspects of the Treasury Middle Office Function relating to the Securities and Money Markets & Foreign Exchange desk, oversee and ensure integrity of the Securities and Money Markets & Foreign Exchange business risk controls, P&L monitoring, reconciliation and reporting, positions keeping, KPI/ KRI reporting, whilst ensuring compliance with accounting standards, prudential requirements and the bank’s policies.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • University Degree from a recognized University majoring preferably in Accounting, Finance or Commerce and a relevant professional qualification i.e. CPA, CA or ACCA
  • Possession of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and other professional banking qualifications will be an added advantage
  • 5 years working experience in a financial Institution, with at least 3 years in a management role. Audit firm experience related to financial reporting is an added advantage.
  • Have proven working experience in the preparation of budgets and financial analysis and reporting
  • Have a working knowledge of modelling techniques, scenario analysis, extensive MS office applications knowledge, SQL and Oracle Financials
  • Should have strong leadership skills with demonstrated competences in championing customer focus, and in managing people in a multi- cultural environment.

  • Ability to display orientation to profitability; demonstrate knowledge of market and competition, and align work with strategic goals
