On this Thursday 21st February 2019, The Ministry of Education released the results of the National Examinations for the school year 2018. While officiating this activity The Minister of Education Dr. Eugene MUTIMURA congratulated the best performing students and assured the public the commitment of the Ministry to continue raising the performance of students and the quality education .
For General Education, the total candidates who sat for examinations in 2018 were 42,145 as compared to 40,753 (2017). 22,803 candidates (54.10%) are girls while 19,342 candidates (44.90%) are boys. The general pass rate is 88.22% (37,184) as compared to 89.55% (2017). a decrease of 1.33%. Girls’ general pass rate is 84.0% (19,146 female candidates over 22,802 female candidates who sat for examinations) while boys general pass rate is 93.3% (18,033 male candidates over 19,343 male candidates who sat for examinations).
For TTCs the total candidates who sat for examinations are 3,894. Among these, 2,397 candidates (61.56%) are girls while 1,484 candidates (39.19%) are boys. The general pass rate for TTC examinations is 97.25% (3,787).
For TVET, the general pass rate is 95.2%. the number candidates registered was 21,847 and among them 21,669 sat for exams and out of them 20,635 candidates representing 95.23% passed and qualify for the certificate of A2.
