Youth Development Labs (YLabs) (www.y-labs.org) designs innovative solutions that address the complex and nuanced challenges young people face today. We work with governments and local partner organizations to create, scale, and evaluate solutions designed with and for young people. Our team brings a unique mix of human-centered design, adolescent medicine, implementation science, and impact evaluation to all our projects.

Founded in 2014, our organization has worked in thirteen countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Central America on sexual and reproductive health, mental health, HIV/AIDS, and youth employment. We have offices in Berkeley, California and Kigali, Rwanda.

SUMMARY

YLabs is seeking a Project Manager to support CyberRwanda, a youth-facing digital platform that combines an edutainment webcomic, with sexual and reproductive health and economic empowerment information and online ordering of contraceptives and other pharmaceutical products.

In consultation with the Project Director, the Project Manager will lead the coordination of CyberRwanda, helping to ensure that all project requirements and timelines are on track. They’ll be working with a vibrant, multi-disciplinary team that combines expertise in health, economics, and design. The ideal candidate enjoys both working collaboratively and individually, can easily transition between and oversee multiple workstreams, and enjoys learning on their feet.

You will be responsible for:

● Developing and maintaining project work and implementation plans, helping to ensure that all team members and partners and are working effectively together and staying on track.

● Coordinate all team meetings, with the Project Director, proactively organizing meetings as needed to ensure effective implementation.

● In collaboration with other team members, make sure that high-quality reports are timely produced that clearly describe progress made, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.

● Support budgeting, helping to ensure that the project is in line with project projections.

●Support contracting and agreement for project partners and support contracts.

●Coordinate risk mitigation strategy and implementation, and team support efforts to enable the team to continue to work effectively together.

●With our local implementing partner, coordinate key implementation activities such as training, events and stakeholder meetings.

● Actively participate in problem-solving and troubleshooting to support CyberRwanda achieving the greatest impact.

● Support business development efforts as needed.

You have:

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; with preferred 3-7 years of project coordination or management experience

● Experience working in public health or international development fields

●  Proficiency in MS office suite, G Suite and Keynote (preferred)

●  Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a rapidly moving environment

●  Previous experience with basic project management tools (ie. basecamp, trello, asana, gantt charts, microsoft project, etc)

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills

● Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to track and record projects through to completion

● Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision

● Strong attention to detail

● Experience working effectively both with a multidisciplinary team across different time zones.
