Qatar University Scholarships for international students 2019Qatar University supports a wide variety of scholarships recipients each academic year in order to attract highly qualified students. While the vast majority of academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and scholarly achievement.

Types of scholarships

Qatar University offers different types of scholarships annually to attract qualified students, provided that they meet the requirements of each scholarship and submit the required documents.

New students

For New Student can apply for scholarship through the Admission Application System.

Admission Condition for international scholarship students

The student applied to majors taught in English as a first or second preference, must demonstrate proficiency in English and Mathematics by satisfying the minimum competency requirements by submitting IELTS (5.5) and SAT (570) or ACT (24).

Current students can apply for a scholarship through their myQU

Conditions

Maximum Duration Condition

All scholarship students must commit to maximum duration which is the proposed duration of the academic program that he/she is studying at, which is based on the program graduation requirements, in addition to the number of semesters spent in the Foundation Program (maximum one year). The maximum duration does not include summer courses or courses that the student drops or withdraws.

  • QU Honors Program Scholarship

Foundation Period

  1. GPA and the number of registered credit hours during the Foundation Program is not counted.
  2. Complete the Foundation Program in 2 semesters only (one year).
  3. If the student did not pass the Foundation Program in 2 semesters:
    1. Internal Scholarship: the scholarship will be suspended; the student can continue studying at Qatar University but has to pay full tuition fees on his own. Student can return the scholarship after completing the foundation program or transfer to colleges that do not require foundation program.
    2. External Scholarship: the scholarship will be stopped; student’s residency will be canceled and the student will be given a one way ticket to go back to his country, as long as Qatar University is his sponsor.

Undergraduate Students

After completing the Foundation Program, the following conditions must be fulfilled:

  1. Must satisfy the maximum duration condition illustrated above.
  2. Must register and pass 15 credit hours in each regular semester. In extenuating circumstances, the student may request an exception through the online scholarship exemption application and the scholarship section will decide wither the request is approved or not.
  3. Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 out of 4 for Islamic world and other countries scholarships, H.H. the Emir o Qatar’s Scholarships for Academic Excellence , and Outstanding Performance Scholarships. However Honor Program Student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 out of 4.
  4. If the student does not fulfill either of the 2 conditions above (2&3), the student will receive a Scholarship Warning.
  5. If a student receives 2 Scholarship Warnings (from the same type) or exceeded the maximum duration condition:
    1. Internal Scholarship: the scholarship will be stopped; and the student can continue studying at Qatar University but has to pay full tuition fees on his own.
    2. External Scholarship: the scholarship will be stopped; student’s residency will be canceled and the student will be given a one way ticket to go back to his country, as long as Qatar University is his sponsor.
  6. After the student’s scholarship has been canceled, student will not be eligible to receive that scholarship again, regardless of whether the situation is amended.
  7. Students who have the Honors program scholarship must update the Honors Office each semester with the registered Honors Courses and provide evidences of remaining and taken Honors Courses.

Thursday, 13 June 2019 End of submitting the required scholarship documents for new applicants and current QU students.
Sunday, 28 July 2019 Start applying online for the scholarship exemption request (register and pass 15 hours condition) for students who have competitive scholarship.
Thursday, 22 August 2019 End of applying online for the scholarship exemption request (register and pass 15 hours condition) for students who have competitive scholarship.
August 2019 Period of submitting the required documents for Diploma scholarships. The exact dates will be announced after announcing the admission decisions.
