The Project “Technical Support for agricultural and livestock commodities and their system to comply with SPS measures and other export market third party certification” implemented jointly by RICA and NAEB with the financial support of USAID through TradeMark East Africa intends to implement a pool of competent, certified HACCP inspectors able to support food processing operators in the horticulture, tea, coffee, dairy, meat and honey sectors to become HACCP certified against the RSB HACCP standard.

The project has concluded an agreement with a US University which offers access to online training in HACCP and which is able to sanction successful participation in the course with an official , internationally recognized certification as internal HACCP inspector from International HACCP Alliance .

The course will be held in Kigali (venue and dates to be communicated later) and will spread over 6 days during which trainees will be coached in the US HACCP requirements (online training) and the equivalences in the Rwandan system (4 days, Monday to Thursday),on the fifth day (Friday) the assignment to be completed which will lead to the HACCP Alliance certification will be presented and discussed. Candidates will then be given a week to prepare their individual paper to be submitted to HACCP Alliance and on the 6th day (one week after the classroom training ) the presentations will be discussed and sent to HACCP Alliance

The project will assume the costs of the online training which includes the certificate from HACCP Alliance for successful participants, and for the logistics (conference hall with internet, LCD projector, coffee, water, lunch) but no transport or accommodation costs. For candidates from outside Kigali

Successful candidates may be included in a follow-up training as HACCP auditor or be invited in GlobalGAP or RwandaGAP training.

The required profile: at least Bachelor’s degree in a food-related study (agriculture, animal health, food technology. Working experience in the field is considered an asset
