ABOUT ONE ACRE FUND

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. We provide quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural trainings to improve harvests. We measure our success by our ability to make farmers more prosperous: On average, farmers harvest 50 percent more food after working with One Acre Fund.

We are growing quickly. We currently serve more than 800,000 farm families in Eastern and Southern Africa, with more than 7,500 full-time staff, and we aim to serve 1 million farm families by 2020.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The  FAS Unit at One Acre Fund combines strategy, financial and operational analysis, and process design and implementation. We advise One Acre Fund Rwanda’s Country Director and Division Heads on strategic planning and resource allocation from our financial and quantitative analysis and work on shorter-term projects across functions to rapidly solve problems and drive key initiatives forward.

An intern on our team will mainly be working on shorter-term projects, that will involve customer, market research,  and financial data analysis, data modeling or, due to the dynamic nature of the team(at FAS no day is ever the same), responding to quick requests that arise. Working on shorter-term projects will give the intern a good overview of what we do and is a good chance to obtain exposure to different teams and tasks. The role has a heavy analytical component as we look to back up research and qualitative trends with numbers. Clear writing and communication are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking exceptional university graduates with strong analytical reasoning combined with a leadership mind and ideally a demonstrated passion for our mission.  Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Strong educational background; with a bachelor’s degree
  • Strong analytical skills, with outstanding MS Excel knowledge. Candidates with experience analyzing data in R, Python, or any other languages are also encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience at work, or outside of work, keen for learning, and receptive to feedback.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to details
  • Ability to build teams and collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Language: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required. Knowledge of Kinyarwanda is an asset

COMPENSATION

Interns will be provided with a reasonable stipend for the duration of their contract. Rural area based fellows will be provided assistance in locating suitable housing.
