About the Role 

Based in the East, Central and Southern Africa region, you will part of a country office structure but also part of the global technical team and regional structures. The global inclusive governance team hosted within the Programme Quality Teams at the centre of CIUK’s new strategy for the delivery of high quality and impactful programming within CARE.  The team delivers high quality technical assistance to CARE offices around the world in the areas of Women’s Economic Empowerment, Inclusive Governance, Emergency Shelter and Gender and Resilience. The team also provides thought leadership, learning as well as a global perspective to CARE programmes.

The Senior Governance Advisor will oversee our governance work in East, Central and Southern Africa. The Advisor will play a regional role, working closely with national advisors, partners and other experts implementing Inclusive Governance programming, testing and scaling innovative approaches/models and facilitating learning in the region.  The emphasis will be on consolidating work in country offices in the current Inclusive Governance portfolio and expanding to new countries. The post-holder will focus on coordinating technical assistance and capacity strengthening by supporting the integration of Inclusive Governance in country offices programming.

About You  

You are a passionate, self-motivated and experienced expert on Inclusive Governance. You have an in-depth understanding of key concepts in inclusive governance (including gender/inclusion) and expertise in applying these in international development programmes in at least several contexts in Asia/Pacific.

You have a strong track record in providing technical assistance to the design and implementation of governance projects/programmes, including social accountability approaches. You are able to represent CIUK in high level programmatic and policy spaces. You have a proven track record of achieving significant fundraising and cost recovery targets from a range of funders.
