Position: Study Physician

Reports to: Study Coordinator

Organization: Partners in Health/Inshuti Mu Buzima (PIH/IMB)

Location: Kigali

Commitment: 12 months

Partners in Health/Inshuti Mu Buzima (PIH/IMB) has worked in Rwanda since 2005, collaborating with the Rwandan government to strengthen primary health systems in three rural districts, and in Kigali. The Research Department at PIH/IMB is recruiting one study physician to support a clinical study regarding hepatitis C treatment at Rwanda Military Hospital in Kanombe. The primary assignment will be based in Kigali, with occasional travel to other districts, as needed.

Specific responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Participate in the elaboration of wait list for potential participants as requested;
  • Check participants files at each study visit;
  • Clinical consultation of all study participants from screening visit through study follow-up visits;
  • Document clinical information on appropriate study forms;
  • Identify challenging cases to be discussed with specialist physicians;
  • Ensure study staff are implementing the study according to the study protocol;
  • Participate in research methods, ethics, and other trainings;
  • Other clinic duties as assigned.

Required experience:

  • A0 in General Medicine at least;
  • At least two years’ experience working in a clinic setting, preferred experience working on a research study;
  • Experience in medical research related to hepatitis C highly preferred;
  • Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Good command of English and Kinyarwanda is required; proficiency in French is advantageous but not required;
  • Preferred training in GCP.
