Job Description

The Technical Assistance Expert who will work on a monthly contractual basis providing support to RMI in meeting its regular commitments of competing for business opportunities through consultancies to generate revenue for RMI while at the same time carry out competitive action research activities to inform government policy. He/she is expected to demonstrate a significant reputation with a track record of successful competition for revenue generating consultancy services

Key Responsibilities

The following set of key responsibilities outline what the Technical Assistance Expert Coach in Research and Consultancy will deliver on. However, they may be reviewed and revised from time to time to adjust to the demands of RMI clients as well as changing market landscape. His/her work will involve providing technical assistance to the RMI team to:

A. Research:

a. Develop and support the implementation of a costed research plan in line with the RMI strategic orientation and national development agenda.

b. Secure research funding through designing bankable research proposals specifically targeting applied research themes and topics.

c. Commercialize and disseminate RMI consultancy work and research products to the public with a focus on attracting potential research grants funding and consultancy business opportunities.

d. Develop and help implement a diversified resource mobilization strategy to increase financial resources for RMI.

e. Develop business- oriented contacts with private sector entities, relevant professional bodies, and consultancy and research institutions to generate income for RMI.

f. Organize workshops and invite prominent personalities to make presentations at national conferences in the relevant fields.

g. Cultivate relations with international reputable peer review committees and contribute to journal articles in the relevant fields of research.

h. Document all research findings and consultancy work for easy access and usage by interested parties.

B. Consultancy:

a. Map out consultancy opportunities and develop consultancy quality and competitive bids for RMI.

b. Develop market and customer segment opportunities to create outreach activities that meet RMI revenue generating goals.

c. Liaise with internal and external experts for conducting consultancy services in the domains of private- public sector partnerships.

Job Profile

Education

The applicant must possess Master’s or PhD degree qualifications with significant study in either Public Policy, Operations Management, Education, International Business Law, Development Evaluation, Gas and Energy Sector, Food Security or Public Health.
Skills

a. Excellent business negotiation skills backed by proven relevant experience and training.

b. Very strong grants writing skills.

c. Excellent policy writing communication and presentation skills in English. Knowledge of Kinyarwanda and French language skills in addition to English would be an added advantage.

d. A very high degree of innovative and creative entrepreneurial skills.

e. Excellent digital literacy skills.

f. Project design skills with certifications in Project Management Professional((PMP)® would be a plus.
