WASH FACILITATORS

World Vision International (Rwanda) is a child focused Christian humanitarian organization implementing development programs in 24 Districts of Rwanda.

World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire 3 highly qualified, dedicated and experienced nationalsfor the position of WASH Facilitator. The position will be based in Mahama Refugee Camp in Kirehe District and Gashora Reception Center in Bugesera District and reporting to theWASH Project Manager.

Purpose of the position:

Implement WASH activities in the refugee camp and the host community so as to improve wellbeing of refugeesand specifically promote sanitation and hygiene best practices among refugees andthehost community.

The major responsibilities include:

  • Planning of WASH activities especially sanitation and hygiene activities, initiating plans following the set project logframe and allocating funds
  • Ensure all the activities planned are done within the stipulated time and budget. Also ensure that the beneficiary targets are reached
  • Reporting WASH activities from the implementation area, capturing the data required for reporting and documenting success stories, innovations and best practices
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluation activities and development of M&E reports highlighting progress of implementation and recommending key areas requiring redress
  • Ensuring coordination, build and strengthen strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with other WASH partners to increase WASH services coverage.
  • Leading implementation of technical sanitation and hygiene aspect of Emergency project in Refugee camp
  • With a strong and routine partnership with different camp stakeholders; assess, identify and analyze WASH problems, views, feelings and needs of refugees and host community to propose/design possible solutions in line with project logframe
  • Engage in the preparation, designing and contextualization of appropriate guidelines, training manuals and standards, educational materials and promotional tools for sanitation and hygiene activities.
  • Plan, facilitate and conduct Emergency WASH activities using recommended technical standards for Rwanda in collaboration with all stakeholders especially UNHCR to improve social economic status of refugees and host communities
  • Closely follow up and monitor WASH activities implementation with refugees, host community and schools to identify corrective measures.
  • Initiate, plan and provide training to target beneficiaries.
  • Promote major cross cutting themes including environment, gender, protection, disability, peace building to ensure that all children and families are participating and benefiting from Project interventions.
  • Assist/support communities to organize themselves for project participation and decision-making , provide technical support, trainings and advices to strengthen WASH activities within the camp and host community
  • Engage in development of WASH concept notes and proposals for funding and growth of WASH portfolio
  • Organize refugee community to ensure the sustainability of WASH schemes/facilities.
  • Create networking and partnership with relevant partners to enhance WASH activities.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following knowledge, skills and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training.

  • Bachelor’s Degree inenvironmental health, environmental science, water and sanitation, humanitarian affairs, public health and any other related field.
  • At least3 years experience in sanitation and hygiene,preferably in emergency context
  • Strong experience with behavior change, communication and hygiene promotion projects.
  • Computer literate: Microsoft word, excel and internet
  • Having NGO experience will be preferred

Salary:

The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience
