PUBLIC RELATION OFFICER

Job description

To raise awareness of WASAC’s work and development activities, and increase its profile by promoting its activities through the appropriate public relations programs, media and communications channel;

Drive public relations strategy that is integrated with the broader WASAC Public

Relations plan to advance the company’s branding and awareness initiatives Proactively develop internal and external crisis communications and issue management guidelines and processes that can be used to quickly develop and execute crisis communication plans

Work with management and department staff to establish best practice regarding Public relations;

Provide daily traditional media and social media analysis reports and crisis reports

Guidelines for optimizing news for online distribution (traditional and social media) Develop communications platforms, strategies and compelling messages that support WASAC brand, business objectives and company leadership

Maintain relevant statistics and information relating to the overall operation of WASAC

Write press releases, articles, pitch stories, coordinate media visits, and update pertinent social media sites

Monitor and distribute WASAC media coverage and other press coverage relating to the development works

Manage Media inquiries and uphold the reputation of WASAC

Maximize awareness of the services of WASAC in collaboration with the Head Public Relations

Develop and maintain positive relationships with all vendors and media

partners to help achieve Public Relations development and other departmental targets;

Up to date website and Social media platforms with appropriate content

Qualification and Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing or Mass communication or Social Sciences;

At least 2 years of working experience as Marketing, or Public Relations.

The incumbent will ideally be bilingual with strong command in English and

Kinyarwanda added advantage.
