SPIU COORDINATOR

a) Duties and responsibilities

The SPIU Coordinator will report to the CEO and will have following responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the implementation of all projects components by providing strategic leadership to ensure the achievement of projects goals and the sustainability of expected outcomes

Manage and supervise consultants and contractors involved in delivery of all components of the projects to ensure all participants adhere to the highest quality standards and work towards meeting annual targets and outcomes

Supervision of staff attached to SPIU

Coordinate with the Director of Support Services, the Director of Water & sanitation Development, and the Chief Finance Officer for the implementation of administrative, technical and financial aspects of the project respectively

Ensure the preparation of annual projects implementation plans in accordance with the principles and implementation timetable outlined in the projects financing agreements and project agreements

Coordinate with development partners to ensure that technical, procurement or financial management matters are in place before executing related activities

Conduct site-visits to monitor the implementation of works.

Prepare and submit timely monthly, quarter and annual project progress reports and any other reports that may be required.

Maintain proper books of account, financial statements for Projects.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO

b) Qualification and experience required

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor degree in Project Management, Business administration, Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, or any other related field with experience of 5 years for a master’ holder and 8 years for a bachelor’ holder in project planning, supervision and construction works related to the development water supply and/or sanitation projects
  • Experience of at least 2 years at a senior management level in a comparable organization
  • Experience working with or within both the public and private sector
  • Staff supervisory experience and demonstrated organizational skills
  • Proven managerial ability, leadership and strategic expertize
  • Demonstrated diplomatic, negotiations and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with donor funded projects
  • Ability to manage projects effectively – consistently ensuring timeliness and quality of project work
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • He/ She should ideally be bilingual with a strong command in either of the languages (English or French).
